Wild Game Dinner Returns Dec. 5 With Early Gun Raffles

The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets for two firearm raffles ahead of its 38th Wild Game Dinner, set for Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Del Rio Civic Center.

The first is a three-gun special raffle, with the drawing Tuesday, Oct. 20. It will stream live at 4 p.m. on the chamber’s Facebook page, and winners will be posted on social media, said Jimmy Murdoch, chairman of the chamber’s special projects committee.

Prizes are a Browning AB3 .270 rifle, a Henry Golden Boy .22 LR rifle and a Weatherby Element 20-gauge shotgun.

Tickets are half price: 50 for $25 or 100 for $50. Every ticket also stays in the running for one of the 100 guns raffled at the December dinner.

A separate bonus raffle features three handguns. Cards cost $20 each, and organizers will sell three decks of 54 cards, one deck per handgun. Promotional materials didn’t say which handguns are being offered or when that drawing will happen.

Tickets and cards are available at the chamber office, 1915 Veterans Blvd., by calling 830-775-3551 or from any special projects committee member. Chamber President and CEO Blanca Larson said buyers can also pay by phone and receive a photo of their ticket numbers or card assignment.

Winners don’t need to be present. Out-of-town and out-of-state winners can have their firearm shipped to a licensed dealer at their own expense.

The Wild Game Dinner began in the late 1980s as a tailgate gathering among local outdoorsmen. It has since grown into a community tradition that celebrates the area’s hunting culture and strengthens ties with nearby Laughlin Air Force Base.

Sponsorship tables are available. Call the chamber at 830-775-3551 for details
