12 Oct Bee County Launches Online Jury Portal
Bee County residents called for jury duty can now complete their paperwork online after the county launched a new jury management system on Oct. 5, per the Beeville Bee-Picayune.
Summons postcards still come in the mail, but they now carry a QR code and a web address (juror-txbee.ajm.tylerapp.com) that lead to the new portal, called the Tyler Enterprise Jury Management System. Jurors sign in with the Juror ID, PIN and barcode on the card. They have six days after receiving the summons to fill out the required questionnaire.
Jurors seeking a deferral, an excuse or a disqualification must submit that request at least five days ahead of their reporting date, either on the portal or to the District Clerk’s Office.
District Clerk Zenaida Silva says the biggest improvement is notifications. Once a juror registers and completes the questionnaire, any changes, such as an excused juror or a canceled jury date, arrive by text and email. People no longer have to guess whether they’re still needed.
Status updates are also on the portal. To check by phone, jurors can dial the automated hotline at 361-315-7727 starting at 5:30 p.m. the Friday before the date on their summons.
Residents without internet, a smartphone or a computer can still register by phone or in person at the clerk’s office before their date. On the day they’re due to report, they can also hand their postcard to courthouse staff and register on the spot with help.
The move is part of a wider shift toward online county services. Last week, Local National reported that Lubbock County launched a free fraud alert that notifies property owners when records are filed in their name. Upgrades like these tend to matter more in rural counties, where systems are often older and a new tool can reshape how residents deal with local government. In a large city, one more app barely registers.
Jurors with questions can call the clerk’s office at 361-621-1562, email jurysupport@beevilletx.gov or stop by Room 304 at 105 W. Corpus Christi St. in Beeville.
