Beeville ISD Hires Franklin Cahuasqui as Superintendent

Beeville ISD trustees hired Dr. Franklin Cahuasqui as superintendent in a final vote Thursday, Oct. 15, according to the district.

Trustees signed off on a three-year contract that lasts until Oct. 15, 2029, per the Beeville Bee-Picayune. It sets his base pay at $207,000 a year and adds a $500 monthly car allowance for travel within the district and a one-time $10,000 relocation payment.

The vote came four weeks after trustees named Cahuasqui the lone finalist on Sept. 17. State law bars a final vote until 21 days have passed since a lone finalist is named. The district said community members, families, staff and students had a chance to weigh in on the search, and trustees brought on Schools One Stop Shop LLC to support the process.

Cahuasqui most recently was deputy regional superintendent for KIPP Texas Public Schools in Houston, where he supervised 10 secondary and high schools from 2024 to 2026. Before that, he spent two years as Channelview ISD’s deputy superintendent of instructional and administrative support, and he held several leadership roles at Houston ISD, including work on college, career and military readiness.

His career started in the classroom teaching bilingual students and moved through campus leadership into district administration. He earned a Doctor of Education in educational administration from Texas A&M University in 2021, and his research looked at how English learners in bilingual programs perform in reading and English.
