26 Oct Webb County sheriff identifies victims in Pueblo Nuevo double homicide as search for suspect continues
The Webb County Sheriff’s Office on Monday named the two men killed in a Friday night shooting in Pueblo Nuevo and said the suspect, Manuel De Jesus Cruz-Estudillo, 39, remains at large.
The victims are Raul Ramos Moreno, 43, and Gustavo Ramos Moreno, 40. Deputies responding to 808 Main St., roughly 11 miles east of Laredo near State Highway 359, found both men shot and gave them life-saving aid. One died at the scene, and the other died later at a hospital. The shooting happened around 11:27 p.m., the sheriff’s office said at a news conference.
Two murder warrants have been issued for Cruz-Estudillo’s arrest. A sheriff’s office wanted flyer lists him as armed and extremely dangerous and says he was last seen behind the wheel of a black Volkswagen Atlas SUV. The office is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to his arrest. Anyone with information can call 956-415-2878 (956-415-BUST) or Webb County Dispatch at 956-523-4408.
Officials said they believe Cruz-Estudillo acted alone and do not consider him a risk to the community at large. No motive has been made public, and officials said the shooting is not thought to be tied to drugs.
The investigation has involved state and federal agencies as well as the district attorney’s office, the sheriff’s office said. Cruz-Estudillo has family in Mexico, so the office said it is also talking with authorities there in case he crossed the border.
