SpaceX and The Community

SpaceX issued its Starbase impact report for the second quarter of 2026 which is meant to list the ways the firm is helping the Rio Grande Valley.

  • In June, 11 students from Brownsville and Port Isabel received $10,000 each to cover college expenses

  • June 26 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Andy Bowie Park Improvements Project, which included construction of new elevated pavilions and picnic areas, refurbished restroom/ bathhouse, concession building and ranger station, and improved beach access and walkways
    • SpaceX contributed $2 million to the nearly $7 million project. In addition, $4.2 million came from the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), plus another $662,000 from certificates of obligation issued by the county
    • Part of a larger $15 million project to improve county park amenities
  • The second quarter impact report also touted SpaceX volunteers’ major beach clean-up efforts as well as their role in helping save a “266-pound sea turtle”
