07 Oct Draculinafest a Massive Success
The Whitehead Memorial Museum drew a crowd of over 900 music lovers on Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, for Draculinafest.
Organizer Krystal Torres launched the festival three years ago to give rock, heavy metal, and punk groups a stage while uniting the region’s underground music community. Alongside the band lineup, festivalgoers enjoyed a varied entertainment schedule that included a haunted house, a Halloween costume competition, and traditional Mexican dance routines by Ballet Folklorico Maxuilxochitl.
A mix of veteran acts and emerging talent took the stage throughout the two-day event, featuring performances by Uvalde-based heavy metal group Ground Xero and debut band While They Bled.
Between sets, attendees browsed 20 vendor booths selling food, drinks, and unique goods like handmade jewelry, keychains, and gothic or anime-themed fashion items.
In an area typically known for Conjunto and Tejano, Draculinafest showed that Del Rio can rock out as well!
